📏 How to Size Your Beads
Forget the measuring tape — your strand does the work for you.
- Hold the strand and wrap it around the area where you'd like your beads to sit. This can be anywhere from your hips to just below your bust. For weight tracking, place the strand either just above or just below your navel.
- Once positioned, bend over slightly and gently puff your stomach to allow room for natural bloating. If it feels uncomfortable, adjust accordingly.
- If the strand is too long, slide any beads that won't sit on your waist down onto the excess string — those beads will not be part of your waist strand.
- Push all the beads that will sit on your waist close together so there is no gapping between them.
📐 Strand Length & Sizing
Each strand is 60 inches long, which fits most waists comfortably. If you need more length, we recommend purchasing additional strands to ensure the perfect fit.
✨ Bonus tip: Excess beads and string don't have to go to waste! Leftover beads and string can be repurposed into anklets, thigh beads, or bracelets — so nothing is wasted and every bead finds its purpose.
🪢 How to Tie Your Beads
- Begin by tying the strand tightly with a firm first knot close to the last bead.
- Take the string and wrap it around the knot tightly twice.
- Separate the two strands into four ends, then combine them to alternating sides to create two strings again.
- Tie tightly once more to secure.
- For extra security, apply a small amount of crazy glue to the knot and allow it to dry completely before trimming any excess string.
🔒 All Beads Are Semi-Permanent
At Intentionally Adorned, all waist beads are designed to be semi-permanent — strung on non-stretching cotton thread, tied in a knot, sealed, and worn continuously — even in the shower or during physical activity — until they naturally break or you choose to cut them off.
This is intentional.
Our pieces pay homage to the tradition of African tie-on waist beads — a practice rooted in culture, femininity, and self-awareness. Waist beads have been worn for centuries as a sacred adornment, and we honor that tradition in every strand we create.
Wearing your beads as a semi-permanent adornment is also part of the deeper purpose of this brand. Intentionally Adorned exists to encourage you to wear your beads with intention — as a commitment to yourself. A reminder. A declaration. Something you chose and decided to carry with you.
Removing them defeats that purpose.
⚠️ Bead Care & Handling Disclosure
Your beads are beautiful, intentional, and delicate — and they deserve to be treated that way.
Please be mindful when undressing, bathing, or handling your strand. While your beads are designed to be worn daily and can withstand normal activity, they are not indestructible. Snagging, pulling, or rough handling — especially when showering or disrobing — can cause the string to weaken or beads to scatter. Avoid pulling abruptly on your strand at all times.
A special note for strands featuring smaller or more delicate beads: these strands use slightly less string than larger bead strands, which means extra care should be taken when handling them. Move slowly and intentionally when adjusting or removing.
💡 Tips for protecting your strand:
- When undressing, be aware of where your strand sits and avoid catching it on clothing
- Remove tight-fitting bottoms slowly and carefully
- Avoid pulling or tugging on the strand directly
- Store any removed strands flat or loosely coiled — never bunched or knotted
Intentionally Adorned is not responsible for breakage caused by improper handling. Please treat your beads with the same intention with which they were made. 🤍
💧 Accent Bead & Water Disclosure
Some of our strands feature accent beads such as metal or wooden beads. Please note that not all accent beads are water-resistant, and prolonged exposure to water, sweat, or moisture may cause certain materials to tarnish, rust, discolor, or fade over time.
If your strand includes accent beads that are not water-safe:
- Remove or protect your strand before swimming, bathing, or heavy exercise
- Pat dry immediately if your strand gets wet
- Avoid prolonged exposure to lotions, oils, or perfumes directly on the accent beads
- Store in a cool, dry place when not wearing
When in doubt, treat your accent beads with care. The product description for each strand will note any specific material details to help you make the best choice for your lifestyle. 🤍
💡 Prefer a Removable Option?
We understand that semi-permanent beads aren't for everyone, and that's okay!
If you'd like the option to remove your beads without cutting them, simply wear them low enough on your hips so that they can be pulled over your hips and off easily when needed.
Created with intention. Worn with purpose.
About The Founder
Heyyy, I’m Alani — founder, creative, and the heart behind Intentionally Adorned.
At my core, I’ve always been deeply connected to creativity, meaning, and self-expression. Whether through art, poetry, photography, or the ways we choose to present ourselves to the world, I’ve long believed that what we create and wear can tell stories — not only about who we are, but about what we value.
Intentionally Adorned was born during a season of growth, reflection, and learning myself more deeply as a young woman navigating life. In a world that constantly encourages us to become more, fix ourselves, or search outside of who we are, I found myself drawn to a different perspective: the idea that sometimes, what we need most is not always transformation — but remembrance.
That understanding became the foundation of this brand.
I wanted to create something beautiful yet intentional. Something feminine, grounding, and meaningful. Waist beads that do not claim to give you something you lack, but instead serve as a reflection of what already exists within you — presence, clarity, wholeness, expression, strength.
Intentionally Adorned aligns deeply with my values: moving through life with intention, honoring growth, embracing authenticity, and learning to feel at home within yourself while still evolving.
As I continue experiencing life and growing into the woman I am becoming, my hope is that these pieces feel like quiet reminders for others, too — adornments that sit close to the body and gently call you back to yourself.
Thank you for being here and allowing me to share a piece of my heart with you.
With intention,
Alani
